She has served as the Ex-Spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party, Telangana State, the Women Wing President of AAP Hyderabad, and is currently the Vice Chairman of AIPSO (All India Peace and Solidarity Organization), Hyderabad.

Afshan Salam firmly believes that India’s greatest strength is its people. While the nation is rich in talent, she observes that millions of Indians are forced to live below the poverty line due to the lack of genuine government support. She highlights that:

“Our population is our power — but it is also being exploited by politicians, governments, and big industries to mint money. Today’s politics has become dirty, and we must not remain dependent upon it. True progress will come only when crores of Indians unite.”

Her vision is to build a self-sufficient India where citizens themselves take charge of development. She calls upon people to unite and create free hospitals, world-class educational institutions, and social infrastructure that serve every Indian, ensuring that no one has to taste the bitter medicine of poverty.

Afshan Salam also strongly believes in the power of sports as a tool for nation-building. She stresses that children in India are often forced to study without sports, while sports is wrongly seen as a luxury for the elites. She emphasizes that education without sports is incomplete, and UGF is determined to make sports an essential part of academics to nurture discipline, health, and holistic growth in the younger generation.
